Barclays mortgage borrowers are being offered a British Gas Home Health Check discount to help improve the energy efficiency of their home.
The offer, which is open to those with a Barclays home mortgage, means customers will pay £50 instead of the standard £99 for their energy efficiency check.
And customers receiving a British Gas Home Health Check also receives an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for free. The standard price is €20.
Research from Barclays found that one in three homeowners were being stopped from making money energy efficiency improvements to their home because they did not understand which of the possible upgrades were appropriate for their property.
The mortgage provider believes that a Home Health Check can help solve this, because it provides personal advice on how to reduce energy consumption.
The aim is to provide advice to improve existing systems where possible at low or no cost.
Nick Stace, head of sustainable finance at Barclays UK, said: “Apart from the initial costs, one of the biggest obstacles our customers face when trying to make their home more energy efficient is confusion over which of the various upgrades are suitable for their needs. property. .
“Through our ongoing partnership with British Gas, we want to help overcome this barrier by providing customers with personalized recommendations to save money and potentially reduce their energy consumption.
“We also want to help drive those changes, through programs like the Barclays Greener Home Reward, which provides a cash reward of up to £2,000 to UK residential mortgage customers who install a qualifying energy efficiency improvement to their home.”
