The Finance & Leasing Association (FLA) has appointed Shanika Amarasekara MBE to lead the association in Stephen Haddrill who will retire at the end of July.
Amarasekara recently served as Chief Impact Officer at the British Business Bank, where she supervised policy, strategy, economy, sustainability and public affairs.
Before that she was the general counselor who played a key role in the design and implementation of national financial regulations during the COVID-19 Pandemie.
Her earlier career includes senior legal and advisory roles at the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation, where it worked on cross -border Islamic financing structures, the Royal Bank of Scotland and at Allen & Overy.
She has also worked on projects with regard to Fintech Regulation, Green Finance and Financial Inclusion at both domestic and international level.
Respond to her appointment, Amarasekara said: “The sectors of the financial and leasing play a powerful role in stimulating sustainable growth, supporting innovation and delivering fair results for customers.
‘The association Already has a strong basis – and I am looking forward to working with the board, members and stakeholders to build even greater impact, visibility and value in the coming years. “
Amarasekara will take on the role at the beginning of August.
