The winners of the What Mortgage Awards have now been announced. We would like to say a huge thank you to all our readers who nominated and voted to help us select and endorse the best of the best in the mortgage industry.
The awards recognize the very best mortgage and house buying companies in Britain, but they wouldn’t exist without the crucial input from consumers.
This year the winners and highly commended in each category were revealed at a presentation at London’s OXO2. More than 200 estate agents, lenders, insurers, conveyancers, surveyors and other professionals took part in the celebration to find out if they had been crowned the overall winners.
The company that received the most votes in each category won the coveted Mortgage Prize. There were also two highly commended in all categories.
But even those who made the shortlist – and therefore received a large number of nominations in the first phase of the selection process – were praised for their great efforts in what has been a very difficult year for the mortgage sector.
Being guaranteed satisfied customers is the ultimate accolade for our winners, highly commended and finalists. And so many of them wanted to thank you for voting.
Among them was Meet Margo, the first winner – a technology-first mortgage brokerage, which aims to close the housing gap between men and women.
Claire Towe, co-founder, said: “We are delighted to receive the What Mortgage award for ‘Best Newcomer to the Mortgage Industry’.
“As a young company in our second year of business, winning this award in a room full of established industry players is truly humbling.
“Not only is this a wonderful recognition of our team’s efforts, but it also fuels our drive to continue to innovate and reinforces our mission to help more women own their homes.”
One of those established players in the sector is L&C Hypotheken, which has won two awards: Best Mortgage Broker (40 advisors and more) and Best Broker Website.
David Hollingworth, associate director of communications at L&C, said: “We are always looking to improve the service we provide to customers and constantly challenge ourselves to do better in an increasingly complex mortgage market.
“We are therefore very happy to have been named winners. This becomes all the more special because it is voted on by mortgage readers and customers. It’s great that all the team’s hard work has been recognised.”
And another was 14-time winner Loans Warehouse, which won Best Second Mortgage Broker and Best Broker Customer Service.
Matt Tristram, co-founder and director of Loans Warehouse, said: “Recognition is always great for the hard work the team has put in. We say we don’t need it, but of course we love it.
“The What Mortgage Awards has always had a special place at Loans Warehouse as they are the only awards that consumers vote for. We are amazingly privileged to have been recognized by What Mortgage Awards for fourteen years.
“When you win your first prize you are delighted, but then the pressure increases to keep it. So it is a great achievement that we have been voted Best Second Charge Broker for 14 years in a row and remain at the top of our field. .”

The entire Mortgage team congratulates all winners and deserves a big compliment. And many thanks go to our wonderful readers who took the time to nominate and vote! Without you we wouldn’t be able to organize these prizes.
