The Bridging & Development Lenders Association (BDLA) has appointed Brightstone Law senior partner Jonathan Newman as legal counsel to the board.
Newman will advise the board on legal matters, attend meetings and provide advice on growth, sustainability and responsibility of the board and the sector as a whole.
The BDLA now has more than 100 lenders and associate members.
BDLA chief executive Adam Tyler said: “I am delighted to welcome Jonathan as legal counsel the board. He is highly respected in the specialist financial market and brings a wealth of experience, sound judgment and a deep understanding of the legal and commercial issues affecting our sector.
“Jonathan’s guidance will be invaluable as we continue to champion an industry that is sustainable, responsible and built on high professional standards.”
Newman said: “I am very pleased to have been appointed legal advisor to the BDLA board.
“This is an industry that continues to grow, but it also faces increasingly complex legal and commercial challenges, from regulatory scrutiny to the increasing sophistication of fraudulent activity.”
