The Housing, the Communities and the Local Government (HCLG) Committee will question Angela Rayner MP, Deputy Prime Minister and State Secretary for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) about the expenditure review on 8 July.
Respond to that of the government Cash injection in affordable homes Florence Eshalomi, chairman of the HCLG committee, said: “The announcement by the Chancellor of £ 39 billion for affordable houses is welcome and will play an important role in attempts to deliver the goal of the government to build 1.5 million new houses in this parliament.”
She insisted that decades of failure to build the social houses needed that were needed, that meant a record of 126,000 families confronted with the scourge of homelessness, spent years in so -called ‘temporary accommodation’ while their health, work and education suffered.
“We will encourage the government to be clear about how many social houses they expect that these capital investments will deliver and whether they will set a target for social rental homes in the long -term home strategy.
“MHCLG has a busy and important agenda; supporting councils that are in a precarious financial state, about the construction of the structure of the leasehold and tenants reform, and when tackling rough sleep. Doing things well is crucial for people throughout England, and there are concern that the level of expenditure that is released in the issue of assessment.
“We look forward to questioning the State Secretary about how the spending review will deliver the priorities of its department next month.”
