MPs are seeking views on draft leasehold rules ahead of an inquiry into the reforms.
The Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee has launched an investigation into the design Bill for the reform of common property and leaseholdwith evidence sessions set to begin in early March.
As part of its investigation into the bill, the committee is asking stakeholders to respond to a number of questions in written comments by February 25.
It invites homeowners to respond to an online survey.
The HCLG committee inquiry will examine the extent to which the bill meets the government’s own policy intentions, including the pledge to “end the feudal leasehold system”.
It will look at how far reforms will go to strengthen tenant rights and how commonhold proposals would work in practice.
HCLG committee chair Florence Eshalomi said: “For too many leaseholders, the dream of home ownership has turned into a nightmare as they have been hit with sky-high rent increases and unreasonable fees.
“As a committee, we are committed to doing everything we can to examine the details of the bill to ensure that this legislation is effective.
“We want our work to ensure that the Government is well placed to introduce the legislation to Parliament as quickly as possible and finally deliver the necessary reforms for long-suffering leaseholders.”
